Casting Calls or Agency Interviews: The Difference
Modeling Agencies: these businesses employ the best professionals in the industry who know how to mold a model into a recognized and well-known professional.
Over the years, there have been a lot of misconceptions and stories about submitting modeling
agencies.
It is totally normal to be confused when navigating modeling agency social media and websites, trying to figure out how to go about getting noticed. Attending several casting calls which are also known as “open calls” are one of the most active ways to catch an agent’s attention. At the end of the day, it’s free and you get to actually meet with the team of modeling specialists. Getting invited to an interview at an agency is great. But of course, with the vast increase of social media hype, a model can already submit to an agency online, such as CBS Models.
A lot of models and aspiring models are asking. How would you know the difference between a
casting call and submitting to an agency? Allow us to explain them all to you.
Casting calls/open calls are normally done on a specific day and time frame each week.
Agency interviews are usually scheduled and can take place anytime during the work week.
Casting calls/open calls are fairly quick. You sign in, have your info and profile reviewed, and then you’re done.
Casting calls are also done online, especially if you already have an existing profile from the agency you partner with.
Agency interviews can be anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Casting call/open calls attire is casual.
For agency interviews, models may be given strict guidelines or suggestions on what should be worn. Interview attire can differ from casual (like what one would wear to a casting call) to dressy casual.
Casting calls/open calls are open to the public-essentially, anyone with an interest in modeling jobs can always attend without even setting up an appointment. Agency interviews are only offered to select or chosen female and male models.
Going to an open call usually means being around a group of other aspiring models. Agency
interviews are basically one-on-one situations where you’re the only one being interviewed
during that time period.
Casting calls are typically scheduled to be 1-2 hours long maximum. Anyone who wants to go
can come in at any time between the listed hours provided by the agency. Models chosen for an
agency interview are given an exact date and time to be at the office (either of an agency or a
client).
