PAGEANTS AND MODELING: THE BIG DIFFERENCE
A lot of people would often say that pageants and modeling are quite different. In pageants, there are several categories being judged upon: face, body, and brain. And while in the field of modeling, you are solely judged as to how you walk and carry the design/product.
A Fashion Show is a show for a designer to showcase a new collection of designs. The event usually takes happens during Fashion Weeks and features the designer’s new line of clothing. The seasons are usually categorized into Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter. Famous and popular designers usually have a show for each season.
In the show, the clothes are worn by models, presentation walks the catwalk wearing the latest collections. There are two primary influential fashion weeks: the Paris and New York Fashion Weeks. Milan and London Fashion Weeks are also gaining a lot of audiences. Each brand or designer will have its own fashion show, such as the H&M Fashion Show, Prada Fashion Show, etc.
A Beauty Pageant, on the other hand, is completely different. It is a competition that usually pits contestants against each other. The main competition is based on beauty, but will also include aspects of personality, wit, talent, and answers. The jurors will judge the contestants on this basis and will announce a winner at the end.
Depending on the competition, the winner gets a crown, and the title of the pageant, and might offer a monetary award or scholarship, like Miss America. Pageants usually occur yearly. Famous pageants are Miss World and the Miss Universe pageant. And also, each country may have its own pageant.
A Beauty Pageant contestant might aspire to be a Fashion Show model, and might even get a chance to be once she is discovered by agents like CBS Models. However, a Fashion Show model will rarely want to or will enter a Beauty Pageant as she has already made a career out of her beauty. She needs not to win a competition to prove that she is beautiful.
